No matter how careful you are, there's going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn't experience it all. There's that fallen heart feeling that you rushed right through the moments where you should've been paying attention. Well, get used to that feeling. That's how your whole life will feel some day. This is all practice. -Chuck Palahniuk

(4) What is DMA
The term "Electric Media" is very important. It keeps things together and connects the arts to the individual. "The Media is the Message". According to Manovich, "New media" is anything that uses this "Electric Media" to get the point across. No matter if it is a dvd, a cd, or some kind of 3d animation, if it uses electricity in some way then it falls into the category of "New Media". Because of the ever changing nature of the media, the ideas also are moving around and copyright is becoming more of an issue. Bob Dylan, a hugely successful musician, stole a quote from a 1958 film called "The Lineup". If a famous musician can take someone else s work and pass it off as their own, then where does that leave the little man? What about the artist GirlTalk? He is sampling the music that he uses, but how is that much different than what Weird Al does? True, Al takes the tune and changes it slightly before completely rewriting the lyrics, but he is still using the original artist's work as a jumping off point. I see no difference between what either is doing as far as copyright infringement (or lack there of) is concerned.
(6) Traditional vs Contemporary
My video is essentially a traditional view of love and marriage versus a more modern view. The editing program was a bit of a pain to work with at first but I eventually got it to work for me. I do like the results that I got. If I had more time, however, I feel like I could have accomplished a bit more and made a longer video. Overall, I think that the theme and the execution were a success.
(2) Framing
Watching the "Persuaders" video was very interesting and had some very good points. The video showed how we as a public are being manipulated by the shows we watch and the things we see. The great example was the for tv movie that adverted for the pontiac gts. It was paid for by General Motors and was "nothing more than a 2 hour long infomercial". Even Bob Dylan, the anti government singer songwriter, teamed up with Victoria Secret to sell his cd.
